‘The Dark Room’ to vie in China

Iranian film ‘The Dark Room’ is to screen at Shanghai International Film Festival in China.

Iranian film ‘The Dark Room’ is scheduled to screen at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China.

Produced and directed by Rouhollah Hejazi, the film will represent Iran at the 22nd edition of the event.

The film, that enjoys a social drama genre, narrates the story of a young couple, Haleh and Farhad, and their 5-year-old son, Amir. The small family has recently moved into a new apartment building to start a new chapter of their lives; they cannot imagine what awaits them, though.

Amir is lost in the desert just in front of the complex, however, his parents find him soon. But then, Amir tells his father that someone has abused him and that makes Farhad very upset.

The troubled father is now looking for a suspect who has harassed his little boy.

Sareh Bayat and Saed Soheili are the main cast members of ‘The Dark Room’. Alireza Mirsalari is a child star that took his debut role in the flick.

Founded in 1993, SIFF focuses on awards, markets, forums and film exhibitions so as to build an international platform, and promote the development of the Chinese film festival.

The 22nd SIFF is slated for June 15-24.
